Baseball Slips In Season Opener

BLUEFIELD, W.Va. - West Virginia produced 17 hits and six home runs to defeat Stony Brook, 20-2 Saturday night at Bowen Field in Bluefield, W.Va. West Virginia moved the series to Bluefield because of poor playing conditions in Morgantown.

Junior Kurtis Clinton knocked two long home runs and drove in six runs to lead the Mountaineers.

It was Stony Brook's (0-1) first game of the season. The Seawolves have an opportunity to get into the win column with two games on Sunday. The two teams will wrap up the three game series Sunday starting with a seven-inning game at noon followed by a nine-inning contest.
