Eight Run Inning Moves Seawolves Past Peacocks

April 3, 2003

Box Score

The Stony Brook Seawolves improved their overall record to 9-8 thanks largely in part to an eight-run seventh inning that put the Seawolves on top by a score of 10-3 over the St. Peter's Peacocks. Stony Brook trailed the Peacocks 3-2 entering the top of the seventh, but would go on to tally eight runs on six hits and finish with a 12-3 victory.

Trailing by one, the Seawolves got the seventh-inning rally started when Kevin Solano doubled home Garrett Renner and Rich Graham to give Stony Brook their first lead of the day at 4-2. Matt Devins would then bring Solano home with a single to left and he would later score thanks to an Andrew Larsen double to left. With the score 6-2, The Brook kept the inning rolling after Mike Russo was walked home and Cole Cicatelli tallied two RBI with a single to center. The rally was extended even further when Graham again came to the plate and singled to center scoring Renner.

The Seawolves added two more in the eighth as Renner tallied his second RBI of the day with a single to left and Cicatelli capped a monster day at the plate with a single that scored Lee Lipschutz. Cicatelli would finish the day 3-of-5 , a homerun and five RBI.

Stony Brook again used multiple pitchers in the outing as seven different Seawolves took the mound Thursday.

Stony Brook is back in action Saturday as they open America East play with a doubleheader against Albany. The game is set for a 12 p.m. start.
