Two Stony Brook baseball players have been recognized by the America East after helping the Seawolves to a 6-0 record for the week of Mar. 31 - Apr. 6 that included wins over St. Francis and a four-game sweep of the University of Albany. Senior Garrett Renner was tapped as the conferences Player of the Week and freshman Matt Restivo has been awarded Rookie of the Week honors.
Renner posted a .615 batting average thanks to an 8-for-13 week at the dish and was walked six times. Renner tallied three doubles on the week and a homerun to help push him to a total of four RBI during the sweep. Renner collected 14 bags during the week and finished with a .750 on-base percentage. Renner's impressive numbers helped him to a strong 1.077 slugging percentage. He was also 1-1 in stolen bases.
Restivo finished the week 2-0 and tallied a save in his four appearances on the rubber this week. In his 4.1 innings pitched, Restivo did not allow an earned run. He only walked on batter on the week and struck out four.
The Seawolves are back in action Wednesday when they travel to Seton Hall to take on the Pirates at 3:30 p.m.
