Final Stats

West Hartford, Conn. - The University of Hartford softball team dropped a doubleheader to Stony Brook University Thursday afternoon at Al-Marzook Field. The Seawolves took the first game 7-2 before rallying in the seventh inning of the second game for a 4-2 victory.

Stony Brook improved to 21-31 overall and 8-10 in the America East. Hartford dropped to 7-22 overall and 5-12 in the conference.

Hartford took a 2-1 lead in the fourth inning of the first game on an RBI single by sophomore Amy Sullivan and an RBI double by senior Monica Evrard. Evrard went 3-for-3 in the game with two doubles and a single in the last home doubleheader of her collegiate career.

Stony Brook took back the lead in the sixth on a two-run homer by Kristen Brust. The Seawolves then tacked on four more runs in the seventh for insurance that pitcher Angela Andrews wouldn't need. Andrews allowed two runs on five hits while striking out six in a complete-game performance.

Brust blasted her second home run of the afternoon to start out the second game and give Stony Brook the early 1-0 advantage. Hartford pushed across the tying run on another RBI double by Evrard in the bottom of the first and then took the lead in the third on an RBI single by freshman Samantha Morrison.

Stony Brook tied the game at 2-2 in the fifth on an RBI single by Marissa Servello. The Seawolves then scored two runs in the seventh, the first of which came on a leadoff homer by Stephanie McCarthy. A single by Brust plated the second run and gave Andrews a chance at her second win of the day. She set the Hawks down in order in the seventh and allowed only two runs on eight hits while striking out two.

Sophomore Mallory Rapoza went 4-for-4 in the second game while Brust, Jane Stein and Stephanie DiBiase each had a pair of hits. Hayley Durham also had a pair of hits-including a home run-and three RBI in the first game.

The Seawolves return to action this weekend when they play host to Binghamton in a four-game serise, beginning with a doubleheader on Saturday. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.
