Brust, DiBiase Receive All-Region Softball Honors

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Sophomores Kristen Brust and Stephanie DiBiase both received Northeast All-Region honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association, the organization announced. Brust was named to the second team, while DiBiase received first team accolades.

DiBiase led the team in hits (81), runs (47), batting average (.391) and was one of three Seawolves to collect 13 doubles. She also had 10 home runs, collected a team-high 126 total bases and stole a team-high 19 bags on 24 attempts. This season, she set new single-season records for hits, runs, singles, at-bats, total bases and stolen bases. A first-team All-America East honoree for the second straight season, she was also named team MVP.

Brust finished the year with 61 hits, a .347 batting average and a team-high 13 home runs. She also led the team in RBI (37) and slugging percentage (.642) and collected 13 doubles. She set new single-season records for home runs and RBI and she is also the career record holder in home runs with 17. Like DiBiase, she received All-America East First Team honors for the second straight year.

The Seawolves were 25-33 this year and finished fourth in the America East Conference, qualifying for the postseason tournament for the first time. The All-Region recognition is the first ever for the program.
