BU Uses Strong Second Half To Sink Seawolves 66-56

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Boston University got 15 points from Shaun Wynn and used a strong defensive second half to post a 66-56 win over Stony Brook in America East men's basketball action Wednesday night. BU has now won 14 of its last 15 games to improve to 14-4, 8-1 in the America East while Stony Brook dropped to 6-12, 3-6 in conference play.

Trailing 28-27 at the break, BU's Kevin Fitzgerald hit a pair of layups to spark a 10-3 run to start the second half as the visitors grabbed a 37-31 advantage. Later in the half, a Mitchell Beauford 3-pointer pulled Stony Brook within 39-37 with 13:12 remaining.

BU then held the Seawolves to only two points over the next 8:16 as it took a commanding 52-41 edge. Stony Brook could get no closer than eight points the rest of the way.

Cori Spencer led the Seawolves with 19 points and six rebounds. D.J. Munir added 14 points and Beauford finished with 10. Munir's 14 points gave him 1,411 for his career making him the sixth player in school history to reach the 1,400-point plateau.

Fitzgerald and Chaz Carr each had 10 points for BU which held Stony Brook to only eight field goals in the second half.

Stony Brook is back in action on Saturday when it hosts Maine. Tip-off is 2 p.m.
