BOSTON (AP) - D.J. Munir hit a floater with 31 seconds left to lead eighth-seeded Stony Brook to a 62-58 upset of top-seeded Boston University in the quarterfinals of the America East tournament Saturday, the first time a top seed has been knocked out in the quarterfinals in 14 years.

Stony Brook (10-19, 7-13 AE) snapped Boston's 11-game winning streak. The Terriers were upset on their home floor in the conference tournament for the second straight season and will likely end up in the NIT.

The Seawolves play fourth-seeded Maine in the semifinals Sunday. The game is set for a 12:06 p.m. tip, will be televised live on NESN, Empire Network and the Metro Channel.

Munir missed the front end of a one-and-one with Stony Brook ahead 60-58 with 9.4 seconds left, and Boston got the rebound. But Bobby Santiago stripped Chaz Carr at the 3-point line and fed Mitchell Beauford downcourt for a slam dunk as time expired.

Beauford hit a free throw after drawing an intentional foul to tie the game at 56 with 1:34 left, and Cori Spencer followed with a basket to put the Seawolves ahead by two. Rashad Bell then tied the game at 58 with 59 seconds left, but Munir put Stony Brook ahead to stay on the following possession.

Matt Turner missed a 3-pointer with 9.9 seconds left that would have given Boston the lead. There were six lead changes and five ties in the second half, after the teams battled to a 30-30 stalemate at the break.

Bell and Ryan Butt led Boston (23-5, 17-2 AE) with 13 points apiece. Vermont beat top-seeded Northeastern 76-62 in the quarterfinals in 1990.
