Albany used a seven-run seventh inning to break open a tight game and top Stony Brook 11-3 on Saturday afternoon at University Field. With the loss, the Seawolves fell to 17-21 overall and 3-3 in America East action, while the Great Danes improved to 18-13 and 4-1.
Leading 4-3 in the top of the seventh, Albany's Andee Lindgren led off with a single and moved to second when Liz Wieboldt was hit by a pitch. Ali Meacham moved both runners over with a sacrifice bunt and Ashley Rios was hit by a pitch to load the bases before Maegan Larsen pushed a two-run single through the left side to make it 6-3 and chase SB starter Anglea Andrews.
Leslie Busch greeted Sarah Hoffman with an RBI single and, two batters later, Katrina Dunning added a two-run double to up the lead to 9-3. Christina Voth entered the game for SB and retired Kelly Ogden on a line out, but Lindgren followed with a two-run single up the middle to make it 11-3 and close out Albany's scoring.
The Great Danes got on the board in the top of the second on a solo home run by Rios and added another run in the third on an RBI single by Meacham. SB cut that lead in half in the bottom of the third on an RBI single by Hayley Durham that plated Rachael Vogl.
Albany added a run in both the fourth and fifth on an RBI single by Dunning and a run-scoring ground out by Larsen to up its lead to 4-1. The Seawolves responded with two runs in the bottom of the fifth as Durham's single scored Vogl while Jane Stein scored on an error to make it 4-3.
Durham went 2-for-3 with a pair of RBI, while Vogl added two hits and two runs. Andrews (11-15) took the loss after allowing eight runs, seven earned, on 12 hits in 6.1 innings of work.
Dunning went 3-for-5 with three RBI and a run, while Larsen added three RBI, two hits and a run for Albany. Lindgren (10-2) picked up the win after allowing three runs, one earned, on six hits over 4.1 innings of work.
The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday when they travel to take on Hartford at 2:30 p.m.
