Game 1
Game 2
Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Angela Andrews tossed a three-hitter in Game 1 to lead Stony Brook softball to a double header split with Hartford on Wednesday afternoon at University Field. The Seawolves took the opener 2-1 before falling in the nightcap 1-0.
Andrews was the story in Game 1, allowing just one run on three hits and one walk while striking out four in the victory. The sophomore, who improved to 15-17 on the season, set the Hawks down in order in four of the seven innings.
The Seawolves (23-27, 9-5 America East) took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the first inning after Hayley Durham crushed a double to left center to plate Marissa Servello from second base.
Hartford (10-18, 6-7) tied the game up at one run apiece in the top of the second on a solo home run off the bat of Nikki Thompson, but that was the only run the Hawks could manage as Andrews shut them down the rest of the way.
Stony Brook took the lead for good in the bottom of the sixth inning when Colleen McCarthy led off with a single, moved to second on a ground out and scored on a double by Laura Bradford to give SB a 2-1 edge.
Servello went 3-for-4 with a run scored to lead the Seawolves at the plate.
In Game 2, Hartford scored the only run of the game in the bottom of the first on an RBI single by Briana Hout. Nicole McMillon (5-5) held the Seawolves to four hits in the shutout.
Sarah Hoffman (8-9), who had two hits in the contest, took the loss after allowing one run on two hits while striking out five.
Stony Brook returns to action on Thursday when the Seawolves host Sacred Heart in their final home contest of the season. Game time is 3:00 p.m.
