Stony Brook, N.Y. - Jane Stein drove in the winning run after being hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the eighth inning to lead Stony Brook to a 3-2 win and double header split with Albany on Friday afternoon at University Field. The Great Danes (17-13, 3-1 America East) topped the Seawolves (17-20, 3-2) 5-0 in the opener.

Albany relief pitcher Andee Lindgren retired the first two Seawolves to open the bottom of the eighth, but allowed a pair of walks and a base hit to load the bases. Lindgren then hit Stein to score Jamie Neuner from third base and give SB the victory.

Albany picked up a run in the top of the second on an RBI double by Liz Wieboldt, but the Seawolves tied it in their half of the inning on an RBI single by Jackie Anderson.

The Great Danes then took a 2-1 advantage in the fifth on a solo home run by Leanne Tillman and tried to add an insurance run in the seventh when Brittany Burnham attempted to score from second on a single to center, but was thrown out at the plate by Stein.

Lindgren entered the game after Albany starter Casey Halloran allowed a lead off walk to Bradford in the bottom of the seventh. Two batters later, Bradford moved to second on a single by Stein and to third on a ground out by Kristen Brust before scoring the tying run on a passed ball.

Sarah Hoffman (6-6) picked up the victory, allowing two runs on 10 hits while striking out two in eight innings of work. Lindgren (9-2) took the loss after giving up one run on two hits while walking three batters.

Hayley Durham went 2-for-3 with a run, while Stein added a pair of hits and an RBI in the win.

In Game 1, Albany struck for a run in the top of the second on an RBI single by Julie Gannon and another in the fourth on an RBI single by Ali Meacham to take a 2-0 lead. The Great Danes then tacked on three more runs in the top of the sixth on an RBI double by Lindgren and a pair of run-scoring singles by Gannon and Wieboldt to make it 5-0.

Lindgren allowed just four hits over seven innings of work to earn the shutout victory. Angela Andrews (11-14) took the loss after allowing five runs on eight hits while striking out two for SB.
