Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Andrew Larsen was named the America East Player of the Week for the week ending May 23, as announced by the conference office on Monday afternoon. Larsen hit .625 in three games over the weekend, leading the Seawolves to their third consecutive trip to the America East Baseball Championship.
Larsen was instrumental in the Seawolves' run at the fourth and final spot in the America East Championship. The junior centerfielder hit .625 (5-for-8) in SB's three-game series with Binghamton, smacking two doubles, scoring three times, driving in two runs and stealing a base. In Stony Brook's playoff-clinching 2-0 victory over the Bearcats, Larsen recorded the Seawolves' only two hits of the game, both doubles, while driving in one run and scoring the other.
Larsen will take his .317 average to Orono, Maine, beginning Thursday for the double-elimination America East Baseball Championship. The No. 4 seeded Seawolves will take on No. 1 Northeastern at 3:30 p.m. in the tournament opener. All SB games at the championship can be heard on Seawolves Radio, WUSB 90.1 FM.
