Andrew Larsen Selected to Second Team All-Northeast Region

June 29, 2004

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook's Andrew Larsen was selected to the American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA)/Rawlings 2004 Northeast Region second team as announced by the ABCA on Monday afternoon. It is the first time since 2001 that a Stony Brook baseball player has earned all-region recognition.

Larsen, a junior center fielder from Valley Stream, N.Y., was named to the America East Championship Team while leading the Seawolves to their first America East title and the first NCAA tournament berth for baseball in school history. He ranked first on the team in hits (63), doubles (15), runs (45) and stolen bases (14) while finishing the year second on the team in batting average (.312) and home runs (10). Larsen currently ranks in the top-ten in seven offensive categories in Stony Brook history, including hits, home runs, doubles and stolen bases.

The Northeast Region encompasses 43 Division I schools. The 43 coaches nominate their players for all-region recognition and then vote to select a first and second All-Northeast Region Team.
