Volleyball Falls to Towson at Patriot Invitational

Fairfax, Va. - The Stony Brook volleyball team completed play at the Patriot Invitational on Saturday evening, falling to Towson by scores of 30-15, 30-21, 28-30 and 30-19. The Seawolves' record evens at 7-7 after dropping three matches over the weekend.

The Seawolves were led by Melissa Votruba's 11 kills, while Maria Samilo and Danielle MacKnight added eight and seven kills, respectively. Freshman Kate Ruskowski tallied 28 assists and 10 digs in the loss, and fellow freshman Morgan Sweany totaled 15 digs.

Abby Egan also contributed 15 digs and was named to the Patriot Invitational All-Tournament Team after recorded 50 digs over the weekend. It was the second straight tournament in which Egan earned all-tournament team honors, as she was named tournament-MVP at the Red Flash Invitational last weekend.

The Seawolves return to action next weekend when they open conference with a home match versus UMBC at 11 am on Saturday.
