Softball Earns Split on Day 2 of Seahawk Classic

Wilmington, N.C. - Christina Voth threw a no-hitter in her first career start to highlight a 1-1 afternoon for Stony Brook softball at the Seahawk Classic. The Seawolves (1-3) dropped Game 1 to Appalachian State, 1-0, before posting an 8-0 victory in five innings over Coppin State.

In Game 2, Voth (1-0) was the story, tossing the no-hitter in her first career start. The Seawolves got on the board with single runs in the first and fourth and tacked on three in both the second and fifth innings.

Laura Bradford went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases and a run, while Sarah Hoffman went 1-for-2 with two runs and an RBI.

In Game 1, Appalachian State picked up a run in the bottom of the fifth and held on to earn the 1-0 win. The Seawolves had just two hits in the contest. Angela Andrews (0-2) took the loss after allowing one run while striking out five and walking none.

The Seawolves are back in action for the final day of the Seahawk Classic on Sunday afternoon.
