Binghamton, N.Y. -
Antwan Hardy (Rockville, Md/Montrose Christian) was named to the America East All-Rookie team, it was announced at the conference tournament luncheon on Friday morning. Hardy's selection marks the second straight year that a Stony Brook player has made the all-rookie team. Last year, Mike Popoko earned the honor to become the first Seawolf to be recognized on the all-rookie team.
Hardy led all conference freshman in scoring at 11.0 ppg which ranked 14th in the America East. He scored in double digits 15 times in 2004-05 and was named America East Rookie of the Week on four occasions. In late December he became the first freshman in Stony Brook's Division I history to score 20 points in consecutive games with stellar efforts against Wagner and Maine.
Stony Brook (11-16, 6-12) will take on Hartford in the first round of the America East tournament on Friday night at 8:30. The game will be broadcast live on WLIE 540 AM and WUSB 90.1 FM.
