Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team smacked four home runs as part of a 21-hit attack in a 17-5 victory over Hofstra on Tuesday afternoon at University Field. Tom Pennino, Will Brumfield, Jon Pasieka and Jonathan Kalkau all went deep as the Seawolves improved to 13-20 this year while dropping Hofstra to 15-20.

Hofstra jumped on the board immediately as Josh Stewart took Mike Errigo's first pitch of the game over the centerfield wall, but it was all Seawolves after that as the Brook scored six runs in the first inning and never looked back. After a Chris Sipp sacrifice fly, Pennino smoked a two-run blast and Brumfield capped the inning with a three-run shot to put the Brook up 6-1 after one inning.

The teams traded runs to put the score at 7-2 going into the bottom of the sixth inning before the Seawolves exploded for seven runs to put the game away. The big blows in the inning came when Matt Lyons doubled to plate two runs and Pasieka cracked a two-run pinch hit homer over the left field wall.

Peter Milani added an RBI double in the seventh and Kalkau stroked a line drive two-run shot over the wall in left in the eighth to close out the scoring.

Milani went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs, Pennino stroked three hits in five at bats while driving in three runs and scoring three, while Andrew Larsen went 4-for-6 with four runs scored to lead the Seawolves attack. Matt Devins added a 3-for-5 day with a run and an RBI as 11 Seawolves tallied at least one hit. Before flying out in the eighth inning, Milani had been nine for his last nine at the plate.

Errigo, making his first collegiate start, allowed two runs on five hits while striking out four in six innings of work to pick up the win.

Ryan Campana went 3-for-3 with a run while Stewart and Ricky Caputo added home runs to lead Hofstra at the plate.

The Seawolves are back in action this weekend versus America East foe Albany, starting with a doubleheader on Saturday at noon before completing the three game series with a single game Sunday at 1 p.m.
