HARTFORD, Conn. (AP) - Kenny Adeleke scored 22 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the University of Hartford to a 71-68 victory Sunday over Stony Brook Sunday in the America East conference. Mitchell Beauford, whose basket was waved off with 20.7 seconds remaining due to an offensive foul, led SB with a career-high 23 points.

Stony Brook trailed 35-24 at the break but stormed back early in the second half, putting together a 17-6 run to knot the score at 41 on a Mike Popoko trey from the corner at the 14:18 mark. The Seawolves continued to surge and built a 57-52 advantage when Solomon Bamiro hit a floater in the lane with 8:06 to play.

Turnovers keyed the Hartford comeback, as the Hawks then reeled off eight straight points capped by a Paris Carter layup off a steal in the Stony Brook end to give the hosts a 60-57 lead.

The Seawolves bounced back once again, tying the game on a Bobby Santiago 3-pointer and then going ahead 66-64 on a Mike Popoko layup with 2:31 remaining. Popoko was fouled on the play but failed to convert the free throw.

Adeleke responded with a three-point play of his own to put Hartford ahead and then an Aaron Cook 3-pointer gave UH a 70-66 advantage. An Antwan Hardy jumper pulled Stony Brook within two and after a Cook miss, Beauford grabbed the rebound and raced the length of the floor looking to tie the game. Beauford drove to the right of the lane, rose up and hit jumper but was whistled for an offensive foul.

Aaron Cook had 14 points and Paris Carter 11 for Hartford (7-10, 3-4), which has won two of its last three games. It was the fourth consecutive loss for Stony Brook (3-14, 1-6).

Rich Baker sealed the victory for Hartford making one of two free throws with 15.7 seconds left for the game's final margin.

Tre Cunningham finished with 13 points and four boards while Bamiro finished with a career-high nine rebounds.

Stony Brook is back in action on Wednesday when it travels to Maine. Tip-off is 7:30 p.m.
