Stony Brook tallied a season-high 30 hits and plated 22 runs as the Seawolves overpowered Wagner, 22-7 at University Field. Both Chris DiBiaso and Tom Pennino blasted home runs and drove in five as Stony Brook has won nine of its last 12 to improve to 9-17. The loss drops Wagner to 5-21.
The Stony Brook bats exploded with 14 different Seawolves recording hits as Stony Brook cruised to the win with its biggest offensive output of the season. Stony Brook plated five runs in the first inning and never looked back.
DiBiaso finished the game 5-for-6 with five RBI, three runs scored and a two-run homer. Pennino drove in five, scored a run and hit a two-run shot on a 5-for-7 afternoon. Chris Cruz went 4-for-5 with an RBI and two runs scored, Brian Witkowski was a perfect 2-for-2 with an RBI and two runs scored and Justin Echevarria was 2-for-6 with three runs scored as eight different Seawolves pitched in multi-hit games.
Kris Bakey (2-3) picked up the win, throwing 4.0 innings of one run baseball, striking out four. Stephen Zydor and Kurt Jung each threw a scoreless inning of relief in the win.
Peter Delleani paced the Seahawk offense, going 3-for-5 with two driven in and one scored. Chris Drechsel added a 2-for-5 performance with two RBI and a run scored.
The Seawolves return to action on Thursday, April 13 when they return to America East play with a trip to Maine for a four-game set. First pitch is scheduled for 3:00 P.M.
