Final Stats

The Stony Brook University softball team was blanked by Maine, 1-0, in America East action on Sunday morning at University Field.

With the loss, the Seawolves fall to 15-14 on the year and 1-2 in conference play.

The Black Bears scored the only run of the contest in the top of the fourth inning when Brittany Cheney scored from third base off a Stony Brook error to take a 1-0 advantage.

The Seawolves threatened in the fifth inning when they had the bases juiced with no outs. However, Stony Brook failed to plate a run in their best scoring chance of the afternoon.

Molly Kestranek and Sarah Hoffman recorded the only hits on the day for Stony Brook.

Angela Andrews suffered the loss for the Seawolves as she pitched a two-hitter while striking out three to fall to 8-6 on the year.

Jenna Balent once again stifled the Seawolves, holding them to just two hits for the second game in a row while striking out three for Maine.
