The Stony Brook Seawolves swept a must-win doubleheader versus UMBC and head coach Matt Senk picked up win number 400 on Saturday afternoon. The Seawolves edged UMBC in Game 1, 2-1 in Senk's 400th win and then Rob Leonard delivered a walk-off two-run homerun in Game 2 to complete the sweep. With the sweep the Seawolves improve to 21-27 and 11-8 in the America East.
In Game 1, Matt Restivo only allowed on run as the senior threw a complete game four-hitter to lead the Seawolves. Chris DiBiaso got the Seawolves on the board with a solo shot in the third and Jon Pasieka scored the game-winning run on a wild pitch in the fifth inning as Stony Brook took the opener.
In Game 2, Stony Brook was down to its final two outs as Leonard stepped to the plate with Andres Perez on first base, trailing 2-1. Leonard sent the Jon Pavlis offering over the left field fence to seal the Stony Brook victory, 3-2.
Stony Brook starter Kris Bakey limited the UMBC bats to three hits and struck out six in the complete game victory. Perez finished the second game 2-for-3 with two runs scored and Leonard went 1-for-2 with the walk-off two-run homerun.
The Seawolves will wrap up their series with UMBC on Sunday back at the friendly confines of University Field. First pitch is scheduled for noon.
