Softball beats Hampton, 2-1 and UNC-Wilmington, 5-3

Wilmington, N.C. - The Stony Brook softball team beat host UNC-Wilmington, 5-3 and topped Hampton, 2-1, on Saturday at the Seahawk Classic hosted by UNC-Wilmington. Stony Brook is 3-1 on the season.

In the win over UNC-Wilmington, Samantha Posey hit a two-run homer and Alyssa Struzenberg picked up her first collegiate win to pace the Seawolves.

In the nightcap, Freshman Crista Cerrone scored with the bases loaded and two out in the bottom of the seventh to beat Hampton, 2-1. Victoria Kavitsky and Ashley Westphal had back-to-back doubles in the fifth inning to give Stony Brook its first run of the game. Sarah Hoffman picked up the win for her first this year.

Stony Brook will play the winner of Gardner-Webb and UNC-Wilmington in the Seahawk Classic Championship on Sunday at 3 pm.
