The Stony Brook baseball team fell to the College of Charleston, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon. With the loss the Seawolves fall to 0-6 overall and the Cogars move to 11-1 on the year.
The Seawolves scored first as they got a two-out RBI single from Michael Tansey in the first inning that scored Brian Witkowski for a 1-0 lead.
Charleston tied it with one out in the second when Michael Harrington hit a solo shot. Ben Lasater followed with a double and scored when Stuart Haywood singled for a 2-1 Cougar lead.
Haywood lined an RBI single to center in the fourth that plated Michael Kohn for a 3-1 Charleston lead. Chris Campbell tripled with one out in the Charleston eighth and scored on Jed Cordisco's bunt single to third with two outs for the final margin.
Kurt Jung (0-2) shouldered the loss, only allowing four runs in 7.1 solid innings of work. Witkowski finished the game 2-for-4 with a run scored, Tansey was 1-for-4 with an RBI and Chris Cruz was 2-for-4 for the Seawolves.
The Seawolves return to action next weekend when they travel to Nicholls State for a three-game set.
