Hofstra Tops Stony Brook Baseball In Extra Innings

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Hofstra batted around in the 10th inning and scored seven runs as the Stony Brook baseball team fell to the Pride, 17-10, on Tuesday afternoon at University Field. The loss drops the Seawolves to 17-17 overall and Hofstra improves to 15-27.

Trailing 10-8 entering the bottom of the ninth inning, Rob Leonard led off the frame with a double to right center field. Justin Echevarria followed with a double of his own to left to plate Leonard and pull the Seawolves within one. Kyle Traylor came into the game as a pinch runner and advanced to third on a sacrifice fly from Jeremy Nowak and later scored on a Rob Dyer sac fly to deep left field to send the game into the tenth.

Matt Kougasian singled in Andrew Campana with one out in the top of the tenth inning to spark a seven run rally as the Pride plated seven runs in the tenth as they topped Stony Brook, 17-10. Stony Brook pitchers walked four batters as the Pride scored five of the seven runs with two outs.

Marc Brown (0-1) shouldered the loss for Stony Brook, allowing four runs in 1.2 innings. Chris Sipp finished the game 3-for-5 with a run scored, Brian Witkowski was 2-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored and Leonard was 2-for-6 with two runs scored and one driven in.

The Seawolves return to action on Thursday, April 26 when they host Marist at 3:30 p.m.
