Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Senior Brooke Barbuto (Syracuse, N.Y.) and freshman Colleen McKenna (Manorville, N.Y.) were named Player and Rookie of the Week, respectively, by the America East conference on Monday. Barbuto, a conference Player of the Year Award nominee, received this award once already this season, while McKenna is a three-time Rookie of the Week award winner.
Barbuto (1 goal, 2 assists) and McKenna (2 goals, 1 assist) combined for nine points in the Seawolves final regular season win over Maine on Sunday. The duo also had a goal and an assist in a 3-2 win over Binghamton earlier in the week. McKenna, the conference leader in points (1.46/game), led the Seawolves with 11 points this week, while Barbuto racked up nine.
With the two victories, Stony Brook secured the No. 2 seed in the America East Championships and will host the winner of the first-round game between No. 3 New Hampshire and No. 6 Binghamton.
