Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score
Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Boston University's Cassidi Hardy allowed just one hit in seven innings as the Terriers beat Stony Brook, 1-0, in game one of a doubleheader Saturday at University Field. Boston took game two from the Seawolves, 2-0, to drop Stony Brook to 14-14-1 (1-4 America East). Boston improved to 18-11 (5-0 America East).
Hardy and Stony Brook sophomore Alyssa Struzenberg (Cooper City, Fla.) both put forth dominating performances in the circle over the first four innings of game one. Struzenberg started the game striking out nine of the first 12 batters she faced.
Struzenberg started off the fifth inning with her 10th strikeout of the day, but walked the next Boston hitter. After striking out the next batter, Struzenberg walked three straight to give the Terriers their first and only run of the game.
Hardy had a no-hitter going thru 5.2 innings, which was broken up by a double off the leftfield wall by junior Kelsi Fanelli (Audubon, N.J.).
Game two featured some great pitching as well, as the two teams combined for just eight hits. Freshman Colleen Matthes (Severn, Md.) allowed a home run to the first batter of the game, but settled down after that, holding the Terriers hitless until the fourth inning. A leadoff single followed by a wild pitch and a steal put a runner on third base for Boston and single by Rachel Moeller put the Terriers ahead by the final score of, 2-0.
Junior Marissa Fleury (Mahopac, N.Y.) led the Seawolves offensively in game two with two hits.
Stony Brook and Boston will finish their three-game series tomorrow with a game starting at 12:00 p.m.
