Stony Brook's softball team will head to Arizona State in Tempe, Ariz. this weekend to compete in the NCAA Division I Softball Tournament. The Seawolves will face host Arizona State in the first round of the double-elimination regional tournament. Also joining the Seawolves in Tempe will be the University of Hawai'i and Mississippi State.
Stony Brook secured an automatic bid into the field of 64 by winning its first-ever America East Championship on Sunday. The Seawolves eased through their conference's postseason tournament, winning three-straight games by a combined score of 14-2, including a 4-0 victory over the University at Albany in the championship game.
Arizona State is the Pac-10 champion and boasts the second-highest scoring offense in the country with 7.14 runs scored per game. They lead the NCAA in slugging percentage, are second in home runs per game and rank fourth overall in batting average.
Stony Brook will face Arizona State on Friday May 16th at 7:00 p.m. MST.
