Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook's women's soccer team continued to pile up the postseason hardware from its record-breaking 2008 season on Thursday when Soccer Buzz magazine released its 2008 postseason honors. Senior Brooke Barbuto (Syracuse, N.Y.) was named to the All-Northeast Region second team while freshman Colleen McKenna (Manorville, N.Y.) earned a spot on the Northeast Region's All-Freshman squad.

A two-time All-America East first team honoree and a three-time NSCAA All-Northeast Region selection, Barbuto closed her brilliant four-year Stony Brook career in style as she tied a career-high with six goals in addition to posting a career-high six assists. Barbuto was named to Soccer Buzz's All-Northeast Region third team last season.

McKenna, who was named the America East Rookie of the Year, was terrific in her first season with the Seawolves as she led the conference in goals (nine) and points (21). It is the first time a Stony Brook player has been named to Soccer Buzz's Northeast Region All-Freshman team.

The Seawolves return eight of their 11 starters for next season including McKenna and junior goalkeeper Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.), who was named the 2008 America East Goalkeeper of the Year.
