Cambridge, Mass. -
Seniors Alexandra Teti (Downington, Pa.) and Marisa Viola (Cutchogue, N.Y.) of the Stony Brook University women's soccer team were named to the 2009 America East Tournament All-Championship team, the conference office announced. Teti and Viola recently led the Seawolves to their third straight appearance in the America East tournament semifinals.
An All-America East first team selection, Teti anchored a defense that allowed just two goals over the first six games of the conference season. She also proved to be one of Stony Brook's most durable players as she ranked second on the team, behind Viola, in minutes played (1467) on her way to earning the first all-conference honor of her career.
Viola concluded a brilliant four-year career for the Seawolves this season as she posted five shutouts. Viola leaves Stony Brook with program records for shutouts (26) and games played by a goalkeeper (70). The 2008 America East Goalkeeper and 2009 second team all-conference selection finished second in program history with 467 saves.
