Stony Brook, N.Y. - Stony Brook University's women's soccer program recently held its end of the season banquet at SBU's Wang Center. During the evening, head coach Sue Ryan and her staff handed out team awards, including the teams Most Valuable Player, Coaches Award, Top Scholar Athlete and Most Outstanding Freshman.

Danielle Lewis '06 was the event's keynote speaker. Lewis was a three-time captain for the Seawolves and was a 2003 All-America East second team selection. Lewis graduated from Stony Brook with a 4.0 GPA and is currently an assistant with the Columbia women's soccer team.

Senior Brooke Barbuto (Syracuse, N.Y.) was named Most Valuable Player as she closed her brilliant four-year Stony Brook career in style, tying a career-high with six goals in addition to posting a career-high six assists. Sophomore Holly Razzaghi took home the Top Scholar-Athlete Award while sophomore Debbie Aller (Stony Brook, N.Y.) was given the Coaches Award. Freshman Colleen McKenna (Manorville, N.Y.) was named the squads Outstanding Freshman.

The 2008 season proved to be one of the Seawolves most successful seasons ever as the SBU won its most games, 11, since 1994. Stony Brook also made its first appearance in the America East title game since 2002.
