Women's Lacrosse Falls To New Hampshire, 21-7

Durham, N.H. - New Hampshire scored the game's first 11 goals and led by as many as 14 on its way to a 21-7 win over the Stony Brook women's lacrosse team on Saturday afternoon. Michaela Hardy scored a game-high five goals for the Wildcats (7-3, 1-1 America East), who outshot Stony Brook, 54-13. Sophomore Samantha Djaha (East Islip, N.Y.) and senior Kim Wodiska (Lake Ronkonkoma, N.Y.) led the Seawolves (3-9, 0-2) with two goals each.

Hardy accounted for four of the Wildcats' first 11 goals including the first two, just 30 seconds apart. Wodiska's 10th tally of the season finally got Stony Brook on the board at the 1:55 mark but Ashley Durepo answered with a goal 48 seconds later to give New Hampshire a 12-1 halftime lead.

After the Wildcats and Seawolves traded goals, Stony Brook got within 13-6 on four straight goals. Senior Kaitlin Leggio (Bay Shore, N.Y.), who's just nine goals away from the school record of 148, Djaha, sophomore Melissa Cook (Bay Shore, N.Y.) and Wodiska each scored, getting the Seawolves within seven with 18:29 to play. New Hampshire scored two straight and eight of the next nine to open a 21-7 lead.

Senior Amy Hallion (Glenelg, Australia) added a goal and junior Mickey Cahill (Bay Shore, N.Y.) made a career-high 20 saves.

Stony Brook opens the first of three straight home games to end the season on April 4 against Boston University. First draw against the Terriers is slated for 1 pm.
