Cambridge, Mass. -
Junior Vicki Kavitsky (Cherry Hill, N.J.) has been named the America East Player of the Week, according to a release from the conference office on Tuesday afternoon. Kavitsky led Stony Brook's softball team to a 5-2 record, including two wins in a crucial weekend series with Boston University. This is the third-straight week a Seawolf has been named the Player of the Week, with senior Kelsi Fanelli (Audubon, N.J.) earning it the previous two weeks.
Stony Brook's shortstop hit .458 during the Seawolves' seven games last week. Of her 11 hits, five were for extra bases, including two home runs against BU. Kavitsky reached base safely in every game, logging four multi-hit efforts. She scored 13 runs out of the leadoff spot for SBU's high powered offense and has crossed home plate at least once in ten-straight contests.
