After leading Stony Brook University's softball team to its first ever America East regular season title and the top seed in the America East Championship, senior Kelly Oberto (Spring Lake Heights, N.J.) has been named the America East Player of the Week, according to a release from the conference office on Monday. The third baseman hit .545 (6-for-11) with three home runs and nine RBI in four games last week. Oberto is the sixth different Seawolf to earn an America East weekly award this season.
Oberto opened a key series against Albany last weekend with a 3-for-3 performance, hitting a pair of home runs and knocking in four in the Seawolves' 5-0 victory. She followed that with a three-run homer in the first inning of Sunday's 10-2 win over the Great Danes. She posted a 1.364 slugging percentage and an on-base percentage of .643.
