Stony Brook threatened to score in the eighth as sophomore Pat Cantwell (West Islip, N.Y.) and freshman Maxx Tissenbaum (Toronto, Ontario) each singled with one out. But Bywater then got freshman Tanner Nivins (Kitchener, Ontario) to ground into a double to play to end the inning.
SBU again threatened in the ninth as freshman William Carmona (Hempstead, N.Y.) singled with two out before Marino doubled to push him to third. But Bywater once again got out of the jam, getting senior Robert Dyer (Selden, N.Y.) to ground to short to end the game.
