April 21, 2010

Box Score

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Long Island University's Blaire Porter threw a no-hitter as Stony Brook University's softball team fell to the Blackbirds, 3-0, on Wednesday afternoon at University Field. Porter recorded six strikeouts in her complete-game effort. Senior Alyssa Struzenberg (Cooper City, Fla.) allowed just one hit while striking out four in three innings of relief. Stony Brook is now 23-13-1 on the season.

Senior Casey Jacobs (Davie, Fla.) and sophomore Bernadette Tenuto (Audubon, N.J.) each drew a walk to keep Porter from throwing a perfect game. The lone runs of the game came on a three-run home run in the bottom of the third inning.

Stony Brook will host conference-rival Albany this weekend. The Seawolves' doubleheader on Saturday begins at noon followed by a single game on Sunday.
