Game One Box Score
Game Two Box Score
Boston, Mass. -
Senior Alyssa Struzenberg (Cooper City, Fla.) recorded eight strikeouts in six innings, but Boston University took advantage of four Stony Brook errors as it defeated the Seawolves, 3-1, on Saturday afternoon. The Terriers went on to win game two, 7-0. Stony Brook now stands at 13-10 (3-2 America East) while Boston improves to 17-10 (2-0).
In game one, Boston scored its first run of the game in the first inning without recording a hit. A walk followed by back-to-back hit batsmen was followed by a sacrifice fly to center which put the Terriers up 1-0. BU doubled its lead on an unearned run in the fourth.
Stony Brook broke into the scoring column in the top of the sixth when senior Vicki Kavitsky (Cherry Hill, N.J.) hit a one-out double to right field. Junior Brijette Martin (New York, N.Y.) followed that with a single to left, scoring Kavitsky and cutting the Terriers lead to 2-1. That's as close the Seawolves would get, however, as Boston tacked on a third run in the bottom of the sixth.
Boston University scored four runs in the first inning in the second game of the day which led to a 7-0 victory. Whitney Tuthill held the Seawolves without a hit until the fifth inning.
Stony Brook will wrap-up its series with the Terriers on Sunday with a single game scheduled to start at 12:00 p.m.
