Freshman outfielder Tanner Nivins (Kitchener, Ontario) of the Stony Brook University baseball team, earned America East Rookie of the Week honors on Monday after hitting .409 in seven games last week.
In addition to hitting .409, Nivins had seven RBI and scored five runs. He also had an on-base percentage of .458 and a slugging percentage of .773 with two doubles and two homers.
Nivins went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the Seawolves' 18-14, 14-inning win over San Diego State on Tuesday. He then went 3-for-5, including a home run, in Stony Brook's 10-4 win over Le Moyne on Saturday. His other homer came in the 8-7 win over Le Moyne in the second game of Saturday's doubleheader.
Stony Brook returns to action on Saturday, beginning a four-game series with Binghamton.
