Baseball heads to Hartford for four-game series

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Playing for the first time in almost a week, the America East leading Stony Brook University baseball team travels to West Hartford for a four-game conference series with the Hartford Hawks. The Seawolves have won 11 of their past 12 games.

Last time out:
SBU had its 11-game winning streak snapped on Sunday afternoon with a 4-2 loss to the Binghamton Bearcats in the finale of a three-game set. Freshman right-hander Brandon McNitt (Chino Hills, Calif.) allowed three earned runs in a complete game effort.

Stony Brook took two of three from the Bearcats in the weekend series and still lead the America East by two games. Sophomore Maxx Tissenbaum (Toronto, Ontario) led the Stony Brook offense with three hits and an RBI.

McNitt (5-2) allowed 11 hits and walked two. Jay Lynch hurled a complete game for the Bearcats, striking out eight.

Scouting Hartford:
Hartford has lost nine straight and has won just one America East game. The Seawolves swept the four-game set from the Hawks at University Field last season.

James Alfonso is hitting a team-high .309 and is the lone Hartford player batting over .300. The Hawks are hitting .228 as a team.

The Hartford pitching staff is giving up almost eight runs per game.
