Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team will open a three-game homestand on Thursday when they host the Rhode Island Rams at 7 p.m. Stony Brook is 1-0 at home this season after a comeback win over Iona on Aug. 22.

The Seawolves (1-2-0) will be looking to bounce back after dropping a pair of games at the James Madison Tournament last weekend in Harrisonburg, Va. On Friday, Stony Brook fell to Delaware, 3-0, before coming up short against the host Dukes, 1-0. Junior Sa'sha Kershaw (Baltimore, Md.) and sophomore Julianne Palm (Stilwell, Kansas) were named to the All-Tournament team at the end of the weekend. Kershaw leads the Seawolves with three points so far this season after recording a goal and an assist in the season opener against Iona.

Rhode Island enters the match with a 1-0-1 record after a draw against Vermont and a win over Manhattan. Senior Stephanie Santos has scored both goals for the Rams this season and was named Atlantic-10 Player of the Week on Monday. Through two games, Santos has accounted for 11 of the Rams' 44 shots (25%).

Stony Brook and Rhode Island have met six times in the past with each team laying claim to three wins. The last meeting between the teams was 16 years ago, on October 28, 1995, when the Rams defeated the Seawolves, 4-1. Stony Brook last defeated URI in 1994, a 2-0 decision.
