Bronx, N.Y. - The Stony Brook women's soccer team will look to halt a five-game skid on Sunday when they travel to the Bronx, N.Y. for a matchup against Fordham at 1 p.m.
The Seawolves (1-5-0) are coming off a tough loss at the hands of Long Island University on Friday night. The Blackbirds took a 1-0 lead in the 81st minute, before junior Taryn Schoenbeck (Newark, Del.) delivered the game-tying goal on a free kick with just 2:05 remaining in regulation. The game went into extra time and LIU was able to break through in the first overtime session as Ariana Calderon notched the game-winner on a set piece from 25 yards out.
Schoenbeck now leads the team with two goals and five points through six games. The junior is on a two-game scoring streak as well after slotting home a goal against Sacred Heart on Sept. 4.
Fordham enters Sunday with a 2-3-1 record. The Rams beat Cornell and Delaware State last week, but fell to Manhattan on Friday night by a 1-0 score. Kristina Maksuti has been an offensive force thus far for the Rams as she has already accumulated 10 points on four goals and two helpers.
Stony Brook and Fordham have met 11 times in the past with the Rams holding a 7-3-1 advantage.
