Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook University baseball team gets its 2012 season underway this weekend, traveling to Louisiana for the Colonel Round Robin. The Seawolves open against Alabama State at 2:30 p.m. on Friday followed by a match-up with host Nicholls State at 6:30 p.m.

Scouting Alabama State:The Hornets are in search of their first win of the season after dropping three games at the MLB Urban Invitational last weekend and a pair of home games this week. Alabama State has 20 newcomers and just seven returners under first-year head coach Mervyl Melendez. The Hornets were picked to finish third in the SWAC Eastern Division
Scouting Nicholls State: The host Colonels are 2-2 on the season following a 10-3 victory over Southern on Tuesday. Nicholls State won 28 games last year under new head coach Seth Thibodeaux and the Colonels were picked 11th in the Southland Conference preseason coaches poll. Nicholls is led by seniors Seth Webster and Jeremy Hill. Webster went 7-3 with a 2.30 ERA in 109.1 innings last season while Hill hit .302 as the Colonels DH.
