Cambridge, Mass. - Senior right-hander Evan Stecko-Haley (Coral Springs, Fla.), of the Stony Brook University baseball team, has been named America East Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Tuesday.

Stecko-Haley hurled 8.0 shutout innings to earn the victory in the Seawolves 6-0 win over Alabama State at the Colonel Round Robin on Saturday. He allowed just two hits, struck out six and retired 24 of the final 26 hitters he faced.

Stony Brook opened its season by going 4-0 at the Colonel Round Robin over the weekend, picking up two victories against both Alabama State and host Nicholls State. The Seawolves are ranked No. 15 in College Baseball Daily's latest Mid-Major Top 25 released Monday.

SBU returns to action this weekend for a three-game series at East Carolina beginning Friday.
