Peragine leads baseball past Fordham

Bronx, N.Y. - Freshman Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ontario) went 4-for-6 with three RBI to lead the Stony Brook University baseball team to an 11-2 victory over the Fordham Rams on Tuesday afternoon at Houlihan Park. It was the third straight victory for the Seawolves and the sixth in the last seven games.

Freshman Matt Gallup (Albany, N.Y.) started for Stony Brook (12-6) and did not allow a hit in 3.0 scoreless innings.

Senior Pat Cantwell (West Islip, N.Y.) added two hits and two RBI for the Seawolves and freshman Steven Goldstein (East Meadow, N.Y.) chipped in with two hits.

SBU jumped on top with two runs in the second and then added four in the fourth highlighted by a two-run single off the bat of freshman Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.).

Fordham got a run back in the bottom of the fourth but the Seawolves scored four in the sixth to put the game away. Peragine had the big hit in the sixth, a two-out two-run single.

Juniors William Carmona (Hempstead, N.Y.) and G.C. Yerry (West Shokan, N.Y.) and sophomores Joshua Mason (Woodland Hills, Calif.) and Bryan Tatelman (South Windsor, Conn.) each pitched a scoreless inning of relief for the Seawolves.

SBU returns to action on Friday, traveling to take on Columbia in a doubleheader.
