Stony Brook, N.Y. -
Senior right-hander Evan Stecko-Haley and junior outfielder Travis Jankowski, of the Stony Brook University baseball team, have earned weekly honors from the America East, the conference office announced Monday. Stecko-Haley was named the Pitcher of the Week and Jankowski the Player of the Week.
The duo led the Seawolves to a four-game sweep of Hartford over the weekend, which put Stony Brook in first place in the America East standings. SBU (29-10, 9-2 AE) has won 15 of its last 17 games.
Stecko-Haley struck out a career-high 10 batters in his three-hit shutout of Hartford on Saturday. It is second Pitcher of the Week honor this season for Stecko-Haley.
Jankowski hit .533 in five games last week and reached base in 13 of his 17 plate appearances in the sweep of Hartford. He is now hitting .354 for the season and leads the America East in runs (39), doubles (12), triples (seven) and stolen bases (23).
The Seawolves return to action on Tuesday, hosting Central Connecticut State at Joe Nathan Field at 3:30 p.m.
