April 30, 2012

Stony Brook, N.Y. - After hitting .650 in five games, junior Travis Jankowski earned America East Baseball Player of the Week honors for the second consecutive week, the conference office announced on Monday. In addition, freshman Kevin Krause was named the conference's Rookie of the Week.

The duo helped the Seawolves to a perfect 5-0 record last week including a three-game sweep of UMBC over the weekend. Stony Brook (34-10, 12-2 AE) has won 10 straight and 20 of its last 22.

Jankowski scored 10 runs last week, had six RBI and five extra-base hits including home runs on both Saturday and Sunday against UMBC. He leads the America East in batting average (.390), hits (64) and runs scored (49).

A Stony Brook player has won player of the week honors in six of the nine weeks the award has been given. Krause is fifth in the America East (.340) in batting and hit .353 (6-for-17) last week.

The Seawolves return to action on Wednesday, traveling to take on New York Tech.
