Johnson takes home final Pitcher of the Week award

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Senior Tyler Johnson of the Stony Brook University baseball team has been named America East Pitcher of the Week, the conference office announced on Monday. It is the second straight week and fourth time this season he has earned the honor.

Johnson tossed 5.0 shutout innings in the Seawolves 5-1 win over Maine on Friday. Johnson finished the regular season with the most wins (eight) and the top ERA in the America East (1.84).

Stony Brook (43-11) finished off the regular season with a four-game sweep of Maine over the weekend. The Seawolves have won 19 of their final 20 games and currently have the top winning percentage in the country.

SBU hosts the 2012 America East Championship at Joe Nathan Field from May 23-26 after winning its second consecutive regular season title.

The top-seed Seawolves open the four-team double-elimination tournament on Wednesday at 3 p.m. against No. 4 Maine.
