Parenty named America East Rookie of the Week

March 25, 2013

Stony Brook, N.Y. - Freshman Jack Parenty (Wantagh, N.Y.) has been named America East Rookie of the Week after hitting a robust .533 in four games last week, the conference office announced Monday.

In 15 at-bats, Parenty smashed eight hits, including one double and one triple. The eight hits and three runs scored both led the Seawolves last week. In a doubleheader against Binghamton last Saturday, Parenty went 6-for-8 across the two games, including a 3-for-4 performance in game one that included a two-run triple.

On Sunday, he went 1-for-4, which was good enough to extend his hitting streak to 13 games, during which he is 18-for-42 (.429).

For the season, Parenty is hitting .393, good for second-best in America East. He leads the Seawolves in runs scored with 11.

Parenty and the Seawolves head to Citi Field to play St. John's Tuesday at 4 p.m. They will host UMBC in a three-game conference series beginning Friday at noon.
