Stony Brook, N.Y. - Sixteen members of the Stony Brook baseball team are extending their 2013 seasons to the summer as they participate in the summer league circuit across the country. Six Seawolves are playing in the Cape Cod League, the premier amateur baseball league in the country.
Juniors Anthony Italiano (Sayville, N.Y.) Brandon McNitt (Chino Hills, Calif.) and Frankie Vanderka (Levittown, N.Y.), sophomores Kevin Krause (Staten Island, N.Y.) and Cole Peragine (Belle Ewart, Ontario) and freshman Daniel Zamora (La Puente, Calif.) are all spending the summer in the Cape Cod League, which has been historically a hot spot for Seawolves players to land. In 2011, former Seawolves outfielder Travis Jankowski was named the Cape Cod League MVP after hitting .329 for the Bourne Braves.
Two Seawolves are taking part in the New England Collegiate Baseball League (NECBL), two are members of the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League (HCBL), two are in the Ohio Valley Summer Collegiate Baseball League (OVSCBL), and one player is in the Northwoods League, Valley Baseball League, New York Collegiate Baseball League (NYCBL) and the Futures Collegiate Baseball League (FCBL) apiece.
