Devereaux, Vaughn, Grogan earn All-Conference honors

Oct. 29, 2014

Cambridge, Mass. - Junior Tessa Devereaux (Fayetteville, N.Y.) was named to the America East first team, freshman Sydney Vaughn (Ballwin, Mo.) was named to the America East All-Rookie Team and senior Shannon Grogan (Eastampton, N.J.) garnered America East All-Academic honors, the conference announced Wednesday.

Devereaux led the Seawolves in assists and points after a two goal and seven assist season. The seven assists tied her previous career-high, set as a freshman, and is currently tied with UMBC’s Lisa Nanov for the conference lead. Through three seasons, she sits tied-for-sixth in school history with 16 career assists. The first team honor was the first of her career, but the third time she has received America East postseason recognition. She was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2012 and the AE second team in 2013.

Vaughn makes the All-Rookie Team after starting all 17 games at left back for the Seawolves. The freshman played a critical role in the Seawolves three shutouts and led the team in minutes played, playing every second of the season.

Grogan earns All-Academic accolades after posting four assists on the season. She had two assists in an overtime win over Binghamton, setting up Regan Bosnyak’s (West Hartford, N.Y.) game-winning goal with a pinpoint cross. The senior coastal and environmental studies major, boasts a 3.77 cumulative GPA and has made the Dean’s List every semester since the Fall of 2011. Additionally, she is a Stony Brook University Student Ambassador and currently sits on the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) and Student Life Advisory Council.
