Final Stats

Stony Brook, N.Y. - The Stony Brook baseball team had its best offensive output of the year with a season-high 16 runs, including 10 in the first two innings, as the Seawolves cruised to a 16-4 win over Manhattan Wednesday at Joe Nathan Field. Five different Seawolves had multi-hit games, led by freshman Toby Handley (Whitby, Ontario), who was 3-for-3.

Stony Brook has now won 17 of its last 22 games to improve to 17-11 on the season. Manhattan falls to 5-22 on the year.

Head Coach Matt Senk's Reaction
"Today was another solid win for the team. Our offense continues to do a lot of positive things. It's good to see our offense thriving as we have pitched extremely well all throughout this year. We look forward to carrying this momentum into the Binghamton series this weekend."

Turning Point
Stony Brook took control of the game from the start as senior Kevin Courtney (Lindenhurst, N.Y.) and Handley each had RBI singles in the first inning.

In the second, Stony Brook sent 11 men to the plate and scored seven times. The big hit came from freshman Casey Baker (Ronkonkoma, N.Y.), who had a two-run single to center that was then followed by Handley's RBI double.

Through just two innings, eight of the nine #Seawolves batters had reached base and seven of the eight had scored at least one run. Baker alone had two hits and two runs, and he went on to finish with four runs scored, crossing the plate again in the fourth on a ground ball double play with the bases loaded and in the sixth on a senior Josh Mason (Woodland Hills, Calif.) RBI single.

Meanwhile, Stony Brook limited Manhattan's scoring opportunities with strong pitching from senior Josh Barry (Seaford, N.Y.), who allowed only two runners to reach second base through the first four innings.
