Boston - Junior goalkeeper Emily Doherty (Oceanside, N.Y.) was named the America East Player of the Week after stopping 20 of the 21 shots she faced in Stony Brook’s two games last week.
Doherty made 17 saves, the most by a Stony Brook goalkeeper in 17 years, to help the Seawolves record a road point at Binghamton. She followed up her career performance with a three-save shutout of UMass Lowell in Stony Brook’s 1-0 victory on Sunday.
Doherty ranks second in the America East in goals against average (1.03), save pct. (.855), and saves per game (5.0). She has allowed just five goals in Stony Brook's six conference matches.
